Pastor Hee Jung Yu, a native of Seoul, Korea, has lived in the Los Angeles area since 1995. She received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Southern California. While working on a PhD in Chemistry at USC, pastor Yu discerned God’s call to ordained ministry as Elder in the United Methodist Church. Accepting God’s call on her life, pastor Yu transferred to Claremont School of Theology where she earned a Master of Divinity degree. Pastor Yu completed a 6-month Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) internship at Vitas Innovative Hospice Care and a 12-month CPE Residency at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Both of her trainings were certified by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. Pastor Yu’s primary clinical training areas include hospice care, pediatric hematology/oncology, adult medical intensive care (MICU), adult medicine, plastic surgery, and child/adolescent psychiatry and eating disorders.

Pastor Yu is married to Rev. Dr. Tae Bum Lee, an ordained Elder of the Korean Methodist Church. They are the proud parents of two sons: Noel and Bennett. Rev. Dr. Lee is an appointed pastor at Hesperia Korean United Methodist Church Mission, where he began as a church planter in 2011.

Prior to coming to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, pastor Yu served as the Director of Children’s Ministry at Hesperia United Methodist Church. Pastor Yu is currently serving as appointed pastor at Emmanuel UMC and as chaplain at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
